Past
Simple
The past simple is used for
an action which happened at a definite time in the past. The time is stated,
already known or implied.
The past simple is used with
the following time expressions: yesterday,
last night/week/month/year/ Monday , etc.,
two days/weeks/ months, etc. ago, then, when, How long ago…?, in 1992/1845,
etc.
TO BE
Was
(I, He, She , It)
Were
(You, We, They)
+ He WAS at home yesterday.

They WERE at home yesterday.
- ----- He WASN’T at home yesterday.
- ------ They WEREN’T at home yesterday.
? WAS he at home yesterday? Yes, he was/No, he
wasn’t
? WERE they at home
yesterday? Yes , they were/ No they weren’t
